Texas Fire Academy
About Texas Fire Academy

Texas Fire Academy (TFA) is an innovative, Texas Commission on Fire Protection certified Basic Firefighter Academy, which offers on-site and on-line firefighter training combining tradition and contemporary methodologies. The focus of TFA is to provide a well-rounded educational experience that not only teaches fire-fighting skills, but also teaches career skills. Our goal is to give the student the necessary tools to become a leader in the fire service.

The South Hays Fire Department, Inc. founded Texas Fire Academy in 2005 by creating a consortium of fire service instructors from departments throughout Central Texas. Each instructor brings unique experiences. From large cities to small rural towns, this educational experience represents the Texas fire service community.

On October 1st, 2013, the Hays County Emergency Services District #3 and South Hays Fire Department, Inc., merged to strengthen the District and increase accountability of tax payer funds.

Texas Fire Academy has become part of the Districts new Training Division and will continue to serve in it current role.  The merger will allow the organization as a whole to better meet the future needs of citizens of the District. X
